Non-academic advice for the SAT - check back here as I might think of more stuff.
The week of the test
Make sure you are getting enough sleep the week of the test. Think about how you make careless mistakes when you are tired and it's hard to pay attention. One good night of sleep the night before the test does NOT mean you are well-rested. You have been working hard to improve your scores on this test, so don't chance blowing it by being really tired.
Make sure you know how to get to the test location. Maybe you can drive to it one day before the test so you don't get lost or have trouble getting there.
The day/evening before the test
Put out items that you want to take with you so you don't have to rush around in the morning, a bunch of pencils, your photo ID, healthy snacks, bottle of water or other non sugary drink, extra batteries for your calculator in case the calculator dies, a back up calculator, since you never know what might happen, and you want to be prepared for anything. And don't forget the slip of paper sent to you by the College Board that is your ticket to get in to take the test.
The morning of the test
Eat a good breakfast, not too much sugary stuff, which gives you the big sugar high and then the bigger low. It is important to be well fed, your brain needs the fuel.
