We had to take a boat to the port of George Town since we anchored in the harbor. We boarded a bus to a small dock where we got small boats to take us out to the sand bar where the manta rays were. We got to touch the rays, and Bob opted to feed one. He said it sucked the fish right out of his hand! The water was really rough, much more so that usual, so it was a rough ride out to the sandbar and I was freezing with the wind blowing and being wet standing in the water.
Then we motored over to "Shark City", which was coral reefs nearby and went snorkeling. We saw lots of different kinds of coral and small fish. Someone saw an eel, although we didn't. Apparently sand sharks live on these reefs, but we didn't see any.
Our excursion didn't start until 11:30, so it ran pretty late, returning us to the port at 3:15 and the last tender boat was supposed to leave at 3:45, but so many people arrived back from wherever they went that we waited in line for ages before we got on a tender boat. Some of the college students at the front of the line started a wave, and that kept us amuzed for a while. You could tell where the pockets of college students were because they got into doing it much more than everyone else!
We didn't get any good photos because the boats were going to get soaked. We couldn't take towels or cameras or anything with us!
