Labadee is a peninsula off of the north side of Haiti, even though it is referred to as an island, in an area that is just about inaccessible from the rest of the country due to the impenetrable mountains. Royal Caribbean leases the land from Haiti. Royal Caribbean has just this month opened the new dock they have been building here, which makes the visit a lot easier for guests on the ship. The last time we stopped here, we had to wait for a long time to get on the next tender to get to shore. Now we just walk off the ship. Royal Caribbean has done a lot more with this place as well, more places to eat and shop, more activities such as ziplining, a large dock that has the jet skis, etc. Labadee looks a lot nicer too, with all the new buildings and walkways. The dock can have two ships here at the same time, but we were the only ship today, and that meant it was a lot less crowded. We just went to the beach for a few hours and then went back to the ship.

The sand cruisin' wheelchairs, look out!

View of Labadee from the top of the ship, you can see the zipline cables running down from the top of the mountain. Five people could go at once on the 5 cables. It was a long ride, and and the end, the people slammed pretty hard into a stopper on the cable to slow the zipline chair down, and it looked to me like a little whiplash was involved. We didn't try it!
